Labuan Bajo has become more than just a gateway to Komodo National Park. There are several beautiful places to explore on land before or after your cruise. One of the most popular attractions is Batu Cermin, also known as the Mirror Cave. Sunlight reflects through the cave’s interior in the late morning, creating a dramatic bright beam that lights up the rock formations. It is an easy visit from town and suitable for all fitness levels.
Another great spot is Rangko Cave, a stunning hidden lagoon where you can swim in bright blue water inside a cave chamber. The trip usually involves a short boat ride and a short walk, making it a refreshing break from the heat. Many travellers also enjoy a sunset visit to Bukit Sylvia or Amelia Sea View Hill, both offering wide views over the islands and a peaceful atmosphere at the end of the day.
For something more relaxed, Labuan Bajo has developing cafés, seafood restaurants and a lively waterfront area. You can enjoy fresh grilled fish at the night market or take a short scooter ride to small beaches just outside town. Although the main reason people come here is for Komodo cruises, Labuan Bajo has enough light activities to fill a day or two with nature, views and local culture.
