Day 0: Arrive at homestay via port or airport
Most travelers arrive at Bangsal Harbor after crossing from Bali or the Gili Islands, while others arrive via Lombok International Airport. No matter how you arrive, transportation to our homestay in Senaru is included as part of your package.
After check-in, you’ll enjoy dinner at the homestay. Our outdoor dining area offers beautiful mountain views, and it’s common to see monkeys playing in the forest below as you relax and unwind before the trek. You can also visit Tiu Kelep Waterfall.

Day 1: Hike to the Sembalun Crater Rim
The day begins at the homestay with breakfast, along with coffee or tea. Depending on whether your trek starts from Senaru or Sembalun, you will either have a short drive to the trailhead or a longer drive of about one hour to Sembalun.
You will spend most of the day hiking, with a break for lunch along the way. The pace is steady and designed to keep everyone comfortable. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the crater rim, where our porters will already be setting up camp. Total hiking time is five to seven hours depending on your speed.
The evening is spent relaxing at the crater rim, enjoying the expansive views and dinner at sunset. You’ll spend the night camping at the crater rim.

Day 2: Summit Day and Descent to the Lake
On Day 2, you’ll wake up around 02:00 am for a light breakfast. The summit hike begins at approximately 02:30 am, allowing you to reach the peak around sunrise.
After reaching the summit, you’ll return to the crater rim for a well-earned, hearty breakfast.
Day 2 follows the same summit schedule as the 2D/1N and 3D/2N treks, but with extra time built in. This allows for a more relaxed pace, especially on the descent back toward Sembalun Rim Camp. We have found that some hikers take longer coming down from the summit due to loose sand and steep terrain.
After breakfast, we continue down toward Lake Segara Anak and the hot springs. This section is one of the most challenging parts for hikers, as it is steep and requires slow, careful movement to stay comfortable and safe. Some sections of the trail are narrow and can occasionally become congested.
Normally, the hike from Sembalun Rim Camp to the lake takes about three hours, and since you will be staying at the lake rather than continuing to the Senaru Crater Rim, there is no rush.
You will typically arrive at the lake between 13:00 and 15:00, giving you the entire afternoon and evening to relax. This is perfect for anyone who wants to fully enjoy the volcanic lake. Fishing is also possible, and we often bring fishing poles. Our guides and porters enjoy fishing as well. You can also spend time soaking in the hot springs which are a 7 minutes walk away.

Day 3: Lake Morning and Senaru Crater Rim or Torean Route
You’ll wake up without any rush and enjoy breakfast at the lake. This allows time in the morning to relax, swim in the lake, or enjoy the hot springs before continuing.
From here, you have two route options. One option is to hike to the Senaru Crater Rim and then continue down through the jungle to the campsite near Pos 2. The second option is the Torean Route, which is a more direct descent toward Torean Village. If you choose the Torean Route, you will camp roughly halfway between the lake and Torean Village.
Both routes take approximately five hours. The route choice often depends on your condition once you reach the lake. Each option has its own unique challenges, and the final decision can be made on-site.
An alternative option is to stay overnight at the Senaru Crater Rim on Day 3. However, this is not recommended if you have a flight or ferry to Bali, as timing becomes too tight.

Day 4: Final Descent to Senaru or Torean
Wake-up time on Day 4 depends on the route you choose and whether you need to catch a flight or ferry. If there is no time pressure, you can enjoy a relaxed morning and an easy breakfast.
If you have an international flight or ferry to Bali, hiking begins around 06:00 am. This allows you to reach Senaru in the morning, collect your belongings, and travel to the airport or ferry terminal, arriving by 15:00 at the earliest. The hike takes about 4–5 hours.
The option to catch a flight or ferry on the same day is only possible with the 4D/3N trek and is not possible on the 3D/2N or 2D/1N routes. If you have a flight, the earliest departure time is 17:00.
Key Difference of the 4D/3N Trek
The main advantage of the 4D/3N Relaxed Summit Trek is the additional time at Lake Segara Anak and the hot springs, along with the flexibility to catch a flight or ferry on the same day the trek ends. The only requirement is an earlier wake-up on the final day if you need to reach your onward destination on time.
