Streamlined Booking

If you’ve found us through a friend’s recommendation, welcome! You’re probably ready to book your trek, so here’s everything you need to know before you do:

1. Check permit date availability
Daily entries to Mount Rinjani National Park are legally capped at 240 visitors per day. Non-Indonesian hikers require a permit and licensed guide to hike Mt. Rinjani. Park rangers check permits at the start point and again mid-hike, so there’s no skipping this step. Only official trekking companies (like us) are allowed to issue permits. These permits sell out quickly, and every year we see folks miss out because they waited too long. The earlier you book, the better your chances of getting your ideal dates.

We receive our permits directly from the national park and update our online calendar every single day with the official remaining availability. (Honestly, we might be the only hiking team that actually keeps a real-time schedule directly from the national park!) That said, permits can still sell out mid-day, so check permit dates HERE before booking.
2. Book your trek & pay the national park entry fee

Once you’ve selected a trek, fill out the trekking form and pay your national park permit fees. Choose your trek starting date, not your arrival date.

3. Prepare for an unforgettable trip!
That’s it! You are all registered, you have a permit, and you’ve chosen the funnest trekking company on Lombok! You will be hearing from your lead guide on WhatsApp within 24 hours to help prepare you for your trip.

Our team of guides and porters are all born & raised here, so we know the best routes, the weather, and the way to do this trek right. Since we grew up in the villages of Senaru, we can teach you everything you want to know about Lombok.

We’ve been here in good times & bad. From the earthquakes of 2018 through the pandemic of 2020, we’ve seen Lombok change. (Oh, did we mention that we were at the top of Mt. Rinjani when that earthquake hit…remind us to tell you that story!)

Our guide, Sting, was amazing and we recommend asking for him – he was an expert of the mountain and encouraged me up when I was finding things tough (it is a hard trek!) Hill was available in the build up on WhatsApp to answer questions which was very helpful. And the team of porters provided brilliant food on the mountain and comfy tents. Highly recommend!

Special mention for the porters. They were just impressive in their strength and kindness, but we naively did not think their living conditions were so harsh. We are Hill, Hamdi, Toni, Adi, Abil, Piot, Seting & Awal—the local guiding team behind Lombok-Indonesia.org. We’re childhood friends who grew up together in Senaru, with a deep knowledge of our village, Mount Rinjani, and the trails we call home. We look forward to sharing them with you.

Climbing Mt. Rinjani and exploring the island is what we do best, and we’ve trekked to the summit hundreds & hundreds of times!
