Can I charge my phone on Mt. Rinjani?

Nope. There are no charging facilities anywhere on the mountain. The campsites have no electricity, generators, or solar panels for guest use. Our porters and guides manage their own limited power with small personal power banks, but those are reserved for operational communication and aren’t shared with trekkers.

Charge your phone fully the night before at our Senaru homestay. Bring a portable power bank if you want to use your phone for photos throughout the trek. Keep your phone in an inside jacket pocket because cold drains lithium batteries way faster than warm temperatures. You’d be surprised how quickly a full battery drops to nothing when temps dip below freezing.

Our team at Lombok-Indonesia.org recommends focusing on the experience rather than documenting every moment, though we get it, summit photos are important memories. A fully charged phone in airplane mode with screen brightness turned down can last two days if used sparingly.

If photography is a serious priority, bring a dedicated camera with spare batteries. Cameras handle cold better, and swapping batteries is easier. Take your key shots, then put the device away. The best Rinjani memories are often the ones you feel rather than photograph.
