How many trekkers are allowed to enter Mount Rinjani National Park each day?

The published daily allocation for Mount Rinjani National Park is 700 trekkers per day, split across six entrances rather than pooled into one shared pool. Sembalun and Senaru each receive 150 places per day, Torean receives 100, and the three southern and eastern gates, Aik Berik, Tetebatu, and Timbanuh, receive 100 each. This matters because a date can be full at Sembalun while other gates still show availability.

The route-specific split shapes your booking strategy. The main summit itineraries enter at Sembalun, so its 150 daily places come under the heaviest pressure in the July to September high season, when the dry trail and clear sunrise views bring the biggest crowds. Senaru’s 150 places serve the rim trek and the descent side of point-to-point routes, while Torean’s 100 cover the dramatic river-valley exit in the north. The smaller gates are used for softer treks through the southern forests and are rarely the constraint for a summit plan.

Numbers on paper are not always numbers in practice. The quota is subject to carrying capacity and current park policy, and during disruptions the numbers have moved: after wildfire closures, gates reopened on different days, one route stayed shut while five others opened, and online booking itself was suspended temporarily before resuming. A nominal 150-per-day figure does not help you if the specific route is closed, so the live booking system for your exact date and gate is the only inventory that counts.

The seasonal calendar adds another layer. The park closes trekking entirely during the rainy season, roughly January through March, so the quota only applies during the open season, and the opening day each season reliably sells out fast.

Our advice is simple: decide your route first, because the itinerary determines which gate’s quota you draw from, then book early, especially for peak months. We watch the live system daily during the season and tell guests honestly when a preferred date is tight, because a permit problem discovered at the gate is the worst possible time to learn arithmetic.
