Drinking water on our Komodo boats is safe because we provide bottled or properly filtered water for all guests. On our boats, which accommodate up to seventeen guests in six cabins, fresh drinking water is stocked before every departure and monitored throughout the voyage. You should not drink tap water or water from unknown sources on the islands, as sanitation standards vary and contamination is possible.
We recommend using bottled water for brushing your teeth as well, especially if you are sensitive to changes in water quality. The crew will refill your reusable bottle from our clean supply whenever you ask. Staying hydrated is critical in Komodo, where temperatures in the dry season can reach forty degrees Celsius during treks to Padar viewpoint. Dehydration is one of the most common health issues we see, and it is entirely preventable.
If you are prone to stomach sensitivity, avoid ice of uncertain origin and raw foods washed in unfiltered water onshore. Our full board meals on our boats use safe water for all preparation. When dining independently in Labuan Bajo before or after your cruise, choose busy restaurants with high turnover. Your body will thank you when you are swimming with manta rays instead of recovering in your cabin.
