Yes, Komodo is a great destination for beginner snorkellers because many of the bays and shallow reefs are calm, clear, and filled with colourful marine life. Spots like Kanawa Island, Manjarite, and the edges of Pink Beach usually offer gentle conditions and shallow water, so even first time snorkellers can enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed.
The key is choosing the right locations on the right day. Some parts of Komodo have stronger currents, especially during the rainy season, but your guide will always select sites that match the group’s comfort level. If conditions aren’t ideal at one place, we simply move to another nearby reef that is calmer and more suitable.
Our team always keeps beginners close to the boat and gives simple instructions before entering the water. You will also have flotation devices available if needed. With the right guidance and a relaxed pace, Komodo becomes one of the easiest and most rewarding places in Indonesia for new snorkellers to fall in love with the underwater world.
