Is Pink Beach safe for swimming on a Komodo tour?

Pink Beach is generally one of the more comfortable places to swim on a Komodo itinerary. The beach has a gradual shoreline, clear water, and usually feels much less intimidating than the park’s current-heavy snorkeling sites. For travelers who are not strong swimmers, it is often a good place to relax in shallow water while stronger swimmers explore farther over the reef.

Conditions can still change with tide and weather. Boats anchor offshore, and there can be other tour boats moving in the area, so you should stay within the section your guide recommends rather than swimming far from shore. Coral begins close to parts of the beach, which is wonderful for snorkeling but also means you need to watch where you put your feet and avoid standing on living reef.

The pink color comes from tiny fragments of red coral mixed through the pale sand, and the beach is best enjoyed without trying to collect any of it as a souvenir. Bring reef-safe sun protection, use a flotation vest if you need one, and ask the guide where the easiest snorkeling entry is. Compared with Manta Point or exposed channels, Pink Beach is usually a much more forgiving introduction to Komodo’s water.
