Yes, a late-night airport pickup can be arranged, and it is a routine request on busy arrival evenings. Local transfer services advertise 24-hour service between the airport and the north coast with a midnight surcharge, and the drive from Lombok airport up to Senaru takes roughly three and a half hours. So a 22:00 landing means reaching your bed around 01:30, which is workable when the driver is properly briefed.
The risk is not the drive, it is the assumptions. Arrange the pickup in writing before you fly: the driver’s name and number, the meeting point inside or outside the terminal, the vehicle type, whether the midnight surcharge is already in your quoted price, and confirmation that your Senaru accommodation answers the door at that hour. A driver who is late or waiting at the wrong exit turns a long arrival night into a stressful one.
Sleep is the real cost. A trek departing the next morning leaves Senaru around 07:00 for the Sembalun registration point, where park check-in opens at 07:00. If you land at midnight and sleep from 02:00, you start a demanding three-day trek on four or five hours of sleep, and day one on the exposed Sembalun savanna is the wrong place to discover that.
When guests send us a late flight, we tell them the trade-off honestly and offer the better option: arrive a full day early, sleep properly at our homestay in Senaru, do the equipment check and briefing in daylight, and start the trek fresh. The extra night costs little and protects the whole trip.
If the late arrival is unavoidable, we still make it work: the driver meets you with a name board, the homestay keeps a room ready, breakfast is prepared early, and the porter team loads gear while you eat. Just make sure whoever organizes your pickup has done the same arithmetic on sleep, because a midnight collection followed by a 07:00 departure is a plan with no margin in it.
