Are there private places to change clothes at Mount Rinjani’s crater rim campsites?

Your zipped sleeping tent is the changing room, and that is the honest answer for every camp on the mountain. There are no changing rooms, shower blocks, or private facilities of any kind at the crater rim camps or beside Segara Anak lake, so privacy at Rinjani is something you arrange with equipment and habits rather than something you find already built.

The mechanics are simple once you accept the tent. Ask your tent-mates to step out for a few minutes, keep the clothes you want in a stuff sack near the door rather than buried in the duffel, and use a sarong or an oversized jacket as a screen when you dress inside or slip out in the morning. A headlamp on a low setting makes evening changes easier, and keeping a dry base layer reserved for sleeping only means you always have something clean to change into regardless of the weather. Groups that follow the routine of changing immediately on arrival at camp handle it easily, and after the first evening nobody thinks about it again.

A toilet tent, where the package includes one, adds a second private space, and it is the better place for anything awkward: a sponge wash, treating blisters, or managing hygiene products discreetly. If privacy genuinely matters to you, book a package that includes a private toilet tent and say in advance that you want it pitched close to your sleeping tent. We arrange exactly that for our groups, and we can also pitch tents for couples or solo travelers slightly apart from the shared area when the campsite allows it. What no operator can provide is a private room: the rim is a small, crowded plateau with dozens of groups on peak nights, and trekkers who arrive expecting a lodge are the ones who struggle. Come expecting a beautiful, sociable, improvised camp, and pack a sarong. A headlamp with fresh batteries covers evening changes in the dark, and a spare dry layer reserved for the sleeping bag covers the rest.
